A Lousy Grade

What is the thing that makes you happy most? For me, it is taking multiple tests and learning. I get it, it’s not normal, but I’m not a normal kid. I like homework and going to school. I barely ever play video games. I like to play all sports, and I am kind of a perfectionist. I want to tell you about a moment when I got furious at myself for getting a three minus — my lowest grade — on a test.

First, I was ready to take the test and see my flawless four on the top the next day. I thought that the test went by like a breeze! I walked up very happily to the turn-in bin and placed it in. I smiled so much. I always smile when I turn in something that makes me proud.

The next day, I walked in, ready to see the four on my desk. Then, I looked at my desk with horror when I saw the lowest grade I had ever gotten. I got a three minus I had become devastated! I had never gotten a worse grade. I asked for a retake, but my teacher said no! She thought that I got a good grade. She said that she wrote a note for me on my paper.

Now, I am needing to look at the note. I looked at the note and read under my breath “I require better handwriting from you, I couldn’t read what you were telling me.” In my head, I was breaking down, screaming, and crying. I could read my handwriting very easily. I wrote as neatly as I could the other day. I have always wanted better handwriting.

Finally, I just told myself “It’s just one grade, It’s just one grade” hoping that I would stop hyperventilating. I was calm. I put my test in my folder to take home and I walked out of the classroom happy that I didn’t get a 2.
