Are Parisians Really Rude?

Before you visit the city of love, consider these 3 things to help you avoid the famous Parisian rudeness

And despite romanticizing the city, it is still a city with people, smells, and random micro-aggressions you won’t find in suburbia or a resort.

People will rush to tell you the “stereotypes” they have of Parisians — mainly that Parisians are rude.

Still, as a tourist, I found ways to avoid the historic Parisian rudeness, shake it off, and have sympathy for my fellow city-dwellers.

To be honest, I was terrified to go to Paris. I spoke a bit (un peu) of French but from what people told me I thought I’d be scowled at the moment I stepped off the train.

I soon found that this stereotype of “rudeness” didn’t hold up. It got me thinking. Maybe Parisians aren’t as “rude” as people make them out to be. Or maybe there is a different reason they come across as abrasive.

Here are 3 things to consider before venturing to this beautiful city to help ensure you have a great time.

To many people’s surprise, Paris is a city. Like New York or Chicago, there are people there working, raising families, and living their lives.

So let me help you to ensure you have the best time. Paris is a city and with cities comes things like traffic, pollution, dirtiness, aggressiveness, and did I mention the smells?

Locals have places to be, lives to live, and after you have a tourist blocking the metro entrance for the 100th time you may be annoyed. Within each city, there are established “city rules” that tourists may not know or fail to look up.
