Embracing Body Positivity

Being body positive is about embracing and honoring your body and all its imperfections. Once a movement of plus-size people seeking to find body peace, anyone with a body can be body positive.

In today’s world negatively looking at your body has become far too common. How many times have you caught yourself comparing features to the hairless, chiseled guy on Instagram? I get it, he’s a twenty-first-century Baldwin minus the alcoholism., but it’s more than likely doing more harm than you think. Now I am in no way saying we can’t indulge in a bit of eye candy from time to time however many people look at others and want something that person has.
Stressing over every stretch mark or extra inch around your waist will only create negative thoughts about your body. Instead, allow yourself to focus on your positive attributes. This is guaranteed to help make any day brighter.

Studies have shown that having positive surroundings will increase your self-esteem. If you are always around people that are extremely sad, that will only bring you down as well.
We all know that there are bad days. On days like these, when you are feeling down, TREAT YO SELF! Honestly, a spoiled day is a great day. There are many ways to achieve this. Hot baths are an excellent way to kick back and relax. My all-time go-to that never fails is scheduling a date with myself. A nice bottle of red wine or binge-watching Golden Girls reruns.

To sum it up, everyone has something that they don’t like about themselves. We are human; unfortunately, we are programmed to want perfection, so much that we are judgemental even about ourselves sometimes.

You should refrain from comparing yourself to others, focus on turning negative thoughts to positive when you look at yourself. Wear clothes to impress yourself or better yet don’t wear any at all. Of course, this doesn’t mean that it is acceptable to go out in public all natural, but in the comfort of your own home, this can be a great self-esteem boost. However, trying too much at once may not work for everyone. Start slow, experiment with what works best for you. A few simple changes can have massive long-term results.
