The Garmin Nuvi 885T is one of the latest offerings in premium GPS navigators from Garmin. This device updates the previous 885 models with the addition of MSN Direct capability. It also pushes through new advancements in GPS technology with voice recognition, Bluetooth compatibility and more. What is the real deal on this device and is it really worth the price? The Nuvi 885T GPS has a number of features that set it apart from earlier generations of automotive GPS devices. This unit was designed to allow for completely hands-free use. You can speak to it and it speaks back to you, guiding you to your destination with detailed directions. Another new feature is called “lane assist”. What this does is it lets you know in advance of turns and exits what lane you should be in to facilitate your turns.

The biggest change between this model and its predecessor is MSN Direct. It is fully compatible with this real-time traffic and data service and comes with a free trial of the premium service. What MSN Direct allows you to do is get real-time updates of traffic conditions in major cities as well as real-time weather, flight times, stock quotes, movie times and more. If you travel for business this service can help you stay connected and save you from getting stuck in traffic or alert you to changes in flight times.

But, when I go into the city that will be very helpful. I love the idea that I can take the unit with me in my purse when I am shopping in the city. That way I can find the shops that I am looking for when I am walking along without fear of getting lost in an unfamiliar area. Sometimes, there is not a friendly face to ask for directions.

In the Garmin Map page, an electronic map that is so similar to a classic map would be loaded which can be zoomed in and zoomed out by the person through the panning arrow making the objects on the map more viewable. The area of view is adjustable so the person can choose what part of the map can be seen.

Overall, the Nuvi 885T is a premium automotive GPS navigator with cutting edge features and fast satellite lock. Consumer reviews of this device are very positive with only minor complaints involving map update download times and similar issues that plague all GPS devices.
