The Internship to End it All

Working at Innsbrook has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life, I have loved every minute of it. Though the beginning of it was not the easiest experience I would have not changed a single minute of it, and I think that I will continue to pursue this type of work in my future. I have loved being able to meet all of the famous talent that we have around, to meeting people who are actually working as the publicist for that artist, it has given me an insight as to what my future could entail.

The beginning was rough since I was the new girl around I was originally tasked with simple things such as running ice to the bars around the venue, selling chits, and wrist banding those who were over 21. After a while of running the small tasks I was eventually asked to help out with bigger tasks such as taking photos of the Brett Eldredge concert, creating a map of Richmond and mapping out where I believed would be the best place to draw in audiences to the venues, and finally I made it as VIP assistant of the Nashville Live concert that took place on August 4th. The manager trusted me enough to be handed over to the tours manager and provide them with a good experience at our venue. I even managed to receive a card from a man who runs his own Public Relations firm up in Boston, Massachusetts.

This internship has helped me learn that this is truly what I want to do with my life, I had a ton of fun working for the venue and I cannot wait to continue my life in this field especially in the capacity of working for a concert venue, I have truly loved meeting all of the talent and seeing what it takes to make a concert successful. I hope to one day be in charge of a concert venue of my own and I could use the tools that I have learned here to make it a successful and growing venue.

Meeting the Brothers Osborne, just one of the perks of the job.

This internship has helped me gain skills that I was looking for before I took a full time job in the public relations field, I have always had an issue with deciding what I wanted to do, when I first came to college I started as a biology major, after that I switched to psychology, and then sociology, and then teaching, I was truly lost on what I wanted to do, and I dreaded being doing something I hated. When I started this internship I wanted real life experience, I wanted to know what my life could look like on a day to day basis, now that I know, I know that I have made the best choice for me.

I even managed to impress my managers in making growth, like I said in the beginning I started with tasks that were not even relevant to my major, and I managed to get them to trust me enough that they believed I was going to be a good representative of their company with another organization in hopes that they might come back one day since they were one of our highest profiting shows.

The lady who was truly in charge of me was named Britney Hutchinson, she showed me that work does not always have to be boring, you can have fun while working, I want to be like her when I make it into the field, I want to enjoy my life the way that she does.

I hope that anyone who is seeking a future internship asks me about mine because I will happily send them in the direction of Innsbrook. Though it was unpaid, it was worth all of the hours. I will also be continuing out the rest of the 2017 concert series with them.
