In Amal academy we are a lot of new things on the daily baises. The challenges are becoming more and more interesting. Last week I learned 6 tips mentioned by our mentor Sohail Sb. Regarding maximizing the career. We were asked to share these tips with working professionals and listen to their responses.
For this purpose i met a professional who is my close friend, my brother and my source of motivation.
Mr Bilal Khalid
Executive Engineer
Mr.Bilal Khalid has been working as an Executive engineer at Wateen telecom Pakistan Company for 2 years. He did his bachelor in Electrical telecom engineering from COMSATS Lahore in 2014. I met with him in my home. I shared tips with him and noted his response.
Tip 1: Put your time in: Everyone starts out doing grunt work till trust is proven
It is 100% true. During my first job i worked as field engineer. I kept on working on it and i learned all those things which theory never tell us. It was a great learning experience which help me a lot for my current job.
Tip 2: Don’t talk badly about the company or about your boss
It shows our ethics. We should not talk about bad even for any individual. We should discuss their performance rather than their personality. If you are talking bad it will return to you in a bad way. But if you are discussing their ideas and performance it will also return to you but in a productive way and will not disturb the company overall environment.
Tip 3: Take control of your relationship with your boss and team members
It is too important to build a good relationship with your boss and other team members as well because it will help you in your professional growth as well as it will also reduce your mental stress regarding your work load. I established good relations at this company through kindness and helping others. Same can be achieved with the boss through some informal communication.
Tip 4: Find a mentor and manage the relationship strategically
Mentor is a necessary part of your life. My mentor of life is Mr Sulman Ahmad. He was my favorite teacher in University. I learnt everything from him. We should make good relations with our mentor and have to spend some quality of time with them to refresh the knowledge.
Tip 5: Join a professional body and build your network
Modern world is becoming a global village. Its mean it is working on collaboration.
We have to keep them all by making good relations. As we don’t need magic to change the world we just carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.
Tip 6: Embrace change and reflect on what you are learning daily
Yes it should reflect on what we are learning every day. Our today’s performance should be much and much better than our last day performance. It is a key of success to welcome the change and don’t build any comfort zone.
