Nourishing lives for thousands of years

The paddy fields overlay on acres of land,

Across the horizon for as far as the eyes can see,

Rice terraces in mountains and valleys,

Flourished for thousands of years,

With sweat and tears, cultivated by the bare hands of devoted farmers,

Bringing food onto tables of families,

Bringing health, wealth and prosperity,

A gentle starch best as babies’ first food,

A remedy for various ailments,

A cuisine to comfort the elderly,

Humble and yet, satisfying,

Universal as it can be,

On its own or accompanied,

Complementing hundreds of dishes,

With varieties to choose from,

Each with its distinct specialty,

Proudly representing the country of origin,

Jasmine, Basmathi, Arborio, Glutinous, Calrose
