6 tips to manage and maximize your career

For the purpose of discussing these 6 important steps to manage and maximize your career, I planned a get to together with my friend. He is my junior and he has just completed his Bachelor’s degree in commerce this July. I chose him for sharing these 6 tips as right now he is in a stage where it is important for a person to take right decisions for one’s success in his/her career.
We arranged our meeting in my home on Tuesday evening. After talking about general stuff, I started my conversation related to the tips.

I explained him one by one all the tips mentioned below

1. Do an internship before pursuing a higher degree to confirm if you like that field/industry.

2. Don’t do PhD if you want to be an entrepreneur or work in corporate sector.

3. Spend at least 6–12 months in your first job.

4. Find your passion and align it with your career

5. Decisions are very unique to each person.

6. Own your decisions

After listening to all tips, the end result of our discussion was very positive. He said that I have helped him a great deal as now days he was in dilemma not able to decide what to do now. After our discussion he was now sure about what his next step should be. he was thinking of pursuing his studies further but now agreeing with my tip number 4, he is going to look for an internship or a job in order to see that whether he has interest in that particular field or not.
The other tip with which he strongly agreed was tip number 6: Own your decisions. He liked this tip very much because he himself had faced with a similar situation in which he blamed others when things didn’t go as planned. After our discussion he was adamant that now he is going to own her decisions as our life is something that we have to live, nobody else have to live our life.

My experience, discussing all these tips with my friend turned out to be quite auspicious. There was a sense of positivity around us. Discussing these tips with him helped me to memorize the points well and I realized that truly these tips are of great importance and quite useful in providing proper guidance for one’s success in his/her career.

Seeing the positive results I’m planning to share these tips with my other friends as well.
