First week on the job

So the first official week of being an intern has taught me a few things: one, when you’re going to do a presentation that requires you to stand for the better part of an hour, wear comfortable…

Someone Had To Jump On The Track To Stop Me

That gun kept shooting.

And I kept running.

Before in my senior year of high school, I ran track.

I didn’t necessarily love the sport.

I really did it to get my vertical higher for basketball.

So it was never that serious for me.

I honestly only wanted to high jump.

This was because the other basketball players I played with was doing this event.

But the coach seen potential.

So he put me in the 400m race.

For those who run track, you know this is the worst race possible.

I hated it.

But I did it.

My first race I was on the line looking like a fool.

I had my track top to my uniform.

And I was running in some soulja boy baggy ball shorts.

I looked like I was about to hoop in the 90’s.

This was the style then.

And I had some random everyday running shoes on.

My anxiety was through the roof.

It was like a mixture of having butterflies in my stomach.

And the fact that I had to poop.

I didn’t know which was worst.

But then that gun blew.

BOOM!

I was outta there.

There was no catching me now.

But then something weird happened.

The gun kept shooting.

I was confused.

But I was excited at the same time.

I thought they were saying that I was gone too.

And that’s why they kept shooting that thing.

But also I thought it was someone shooting in the area.

So I didn’t want to look back.

But I did to make sure.

And everything seemed fine.

Except for one thing.

I was dusting those boys behind me.

They couldn’t hold me honestly.

And I had a quarter of my race left.

When someone jumped on the track.

“STOP!”

I was confused.

Why was she jumping on the track in the middle of the race.

But I realized later that it was a false start.

I was so upset.

But my coach took me to the side to tell me that I did a good job.

But he also gave me a word of advice.

“Don’t ever look back behind you in the race. Only worry about the finish line.”

And I took those words with me in goal setting.

Don’t ever worry about trying to become successful because you are scared of poverty.

But focus on being successful for your reason why.

Don’t keep the idea of fear in your mind because then it will catch up.

Just like when you look back in a track race.
