Sex With Porn Stars is Underwhelming

Your expectations are sky-high, these women are professional performers, but the reality in my case was disappointing

Here are two things that are almost always true about heterosexual men — they watch porn periodically, and they fantasize about having sex with a porn star at some point in their life.

I’m not really a big watcher of pornography, I find it somewhat uncomfortable to look at because I’ve been on the set of a porn shoot and I know what the female stars have to put up with for the videos to be made. Having seen porn being shot, I came away thinking that the women on set are just human props — it was an entirely dehumanizing process.

I do like amateur porn a bit though. Watching some 40something couple that has been married for 20 years, that have normal-looking bodies which are carrying a bit of extra weight, and who are doing the video to fulfill the fantasy of releasing their own porno… I find that pretty arousing.

Having now established that I will sit down every six to eight weeks for a few minutes and watch some midwestern married couple who’ve recorded having sex on their iPhone, let’s move on to the second male truism…

Fantasizing about sex with a porn star.

I absolutely did when I was young, but then, when I hit my late 20s, I had sex with a reasonably well-known porn actress. Furthermore, I had sex with another woman who shot porn about 15 years after that.

I no longer fantasize about this because, in both instances, the sex was stupid.

In my late 20s, I was given the job by my employer at the time to acquire one of our smaller competitors. They were a tiny company made up of a few buddies who managed to build a successful, niche business in the financial services industry.

We wanted their customer list and we also wanted to signal to our competitors that we were willing to splash cash around to maintain our market leadership position.
