The Battles Of Living My Truth

Poetry

A poem.

My heart calls me this way
My brain pulls me back
They say I should follow my heart
Sometimes I find it difficult to tell them apart

So many people to please
So many stories to complete
I am fighting these urges
But it is no easy feat

There are stories being released
Wounds being healed
I am finding the light within me
Trying to let it shine and be free

It flickers now and then
Swaying with the breeze
Sometimes it radiates
Other times it will freeze

What I seek is within me
I know and feel it is true
The answers are there
I want to speak my truth

There are times when I feel it in my throat
Wanting to scream through my lips
Other times it is deep down
In the pits of my stomach, breaking into bits

It is up to me for there is no one else
Who can clear the fog and chase away the mist
I must trust and take charge of my path and my goals
With courage, faith and a hard iron fist

So here I go, I take a deep breath
Hello world, this is me
Join the party
I am here to stay, to be

I wrote this some months ago. I feel that I have come a long way since, although reading this helps me on the days that I wobble.
